When we first set foot on this land, it was a wild, untended pasture where the rainforest had begun to reclaim the fallen trees and the Costa Rican "live fencing" of barbed wire crisscrossed the earth like old scars. There were no roads—only the narrow, winding paths carved by cattle.
Yet, amidst the tangled vines, the land spoke to us with a clarity that brought us to our knees: "I am ready to take the pain from the traumas and transmute it so they can be healed." Our work here has been a slow, devotional conversation with Mother Nature. As we cleared the wire, the majestic silhouette of the volcano revealed itself, as if the earth was finally breathing again. We built with reverence, asking permission from the trees before every "haircut" and burying offerings of sacred tobacco and crystals beneath the foundations of our structures. We discovered that our community space sits upon an ancient ceremonial mound once used by the Maleku—the original guardians of this land—and we continue to honor their spirits, inviting the modern Maleku community to share their traditions and wisdom with our guests.
Today, the sanctuary is a riot of color and life. Nature provides in abundance: papaya and avocado trees spring from our compost, and the spirit of the Ayahuasca vine grows wild and protected among us. From the morning calls of the monkeys to the vibrant flight of toucans and macaws, the energy here is one of deep, palpable peace. We remain humble stewards of this space, saging and clearing the energy after every healing, ensuring that the land remains a pure vessel for your transformation.
